Facilitation and Event Coordination

Let’s move it, shake it, make it happen

My favourite events are where we get hands on and when everyone can be involved in some way.

I’m not so keen on chalk and talk style events, I know I rarely remember them!

Facilitation

Using a facilitator when developing a project, with team building and to engage multiple stakeholders can be very effective. As an external facilitator I have a neutral position and focus on guiding your group to their objective. This frees you up to engage in the process alongside other participants.

Facilitation can be used in one-off sessions and for longer processes. As a facilitator I follow my client’s brief to plan and lead sessions with a group. This could be a voluntary group, a staff team and may also include other stakeholders such as board members, service users or community members.

Facilitated sessions are a good way to engage numerous interested people with a common aim. I encourage all participants to engage in the process to reach the agreed aim in the session or throughout the process for longer project or organisational development.

Having an external, neutral facilitator can be helpful with contentious issues or when conflict arises. As a facilitator I do not have a vested interest in any outcome and can plan sessions which focus on reaching consensus and collaboration.

Event coordination

You’ve got a great idea for your event and want some support to make it happen. You might need help finding and contacting acts, speakers or facilitators to take part. Maybe you have all the people lined up and want support with scheduling and with the venue or online space.

Maybe the line-up and venue are in the bag and you want someone to manage activities on the day freeing you up to engage with your audience. Or someone to meet and greet the crowds, in person or virtually, and ensure everyone attending knows what’s happening and where.

Whatever you need, from event logistics and communications to ensuring everyone has a cuppa when they arrive, I can help with all or some of your event.

Event coordination testimonial

“Renew Wales worked with Corinne on an event entitled ‘Creative Climate Communication’ in Fishguard in November 2019. She was a key person in organising that event and liaised between us and Transition Bro Gwaun and others involved locally.

Corinne was the ‘link’ and kept me informed of how the agenda was developing, what ideas were suggested for sessions and contributions on the day. I often received a written plan of what needed to be done and by who and the whole event seemed to be under control and well planned for that reason. She was leading the team locally and guiding the development of it as an idea - if amendments were needed to the programme, I was kept informed and she was very organised and efficient in updating everyone involved. She also organised the booking system and managed that as well as after-event reports/ write ups.

The day itself was immensely successful and several comments were received about people having never been to an event like it! Whilst there were quite a few people involved, Corinne’s organisation and creative skills are what made the variety and joyfulness of the day a success. She went over and above in terms of giving her time in an official capacity and used her own time to ensure the success of it as a whole.”
